Ambassador Nikki Haley announced Sunday morning that the United States would be cutting its budget for the United Nations by $285 million – almost ten percent of the total budget. This announcement follows a recent U.N. vote to condemn the United States’ designation of Jeruselum as Israel’s capital, which a vast majority of United Nation states voted for.

Haley called the budget cuts a “step in the right direction” and said, “We will no longer let the generosity of the American people be taken advantage of or remain unchecked.” She also reiterated that further budget cuts could be in works, maintaining the Trump administrations stance on United States funding of the U.N.
