Sarah Palin is suing New York Times for Defamation

In has been reported by several outlets that former Alaska Governor and VP Nominee, Sarah Palin is filing a defamation suit against The New York times. The former Governor had stated that she is taking a stand against the publication because of comments the publication made about her inciting the shooting against former Arizona representative, Gabrielle Giffords.

The Times made the statement in an article about the shooting of Republican House Rep. Steve Scalise and soon after issued a letter stating that there was no link between pro-gun comments from the former Governor and the shooting of Rep. Giffords.

Lawyers from Palin have made the argument that the publication “committed knowingly, intentionally, willfully, wantonly and maliciously, with the intent to harm Mrs. Palin, or in blatant disregard of the substantial likelihood of causing her harm, thereby entitling Mrs. Palin to an award of punitive damages.”

A spokesperson from the Times stated that they haven’t reviewed the claim but, they will defend themselves vigorously.
